Liang Hong, head of the research department, has been appointed as chief economist of CICC.
She joined CICC in 2008 from Goldman Sachs (Asia) where she served as the managing director and the chief China economist and co-head of Asia-Pacific economic research in 2003 - 2008. Before that, she worked at the International Monetary Fund as an economist from 1998-2003.
Liang obtained her doctorate degree in economics from Georgetown University in 1998, and her bachelor's degree in international relations from Peking University in 1991. She has published widely in both academic as well as leading business journals on exchange rate issues and the Chinese economy.
