StanChart boosts equity research teams in Hong Kong, Korea
Standard Chartered has made four analyst appointments in its equity research. In the industrials sector, Tina Li and Byun Seong-Jin joined the bank in August. Li leads coverage of the automotive and capital goods sectors in China. She joined Standard Chartered from BNP Paribas

Standard Chartered has made four analyst appointments in its equity research. In the industrials sector, Tina Li and Byun Seong-Jin joined the bank in August. Li leads coverage of the automotive and capital goods sectors in China. She joined Standard Chartered from BNP Paribas where she covered the same sectors, and ranked number two for China Industrials and number three for Regional Industrials in Institutional Investor surveys. She previously worked on the buy-side at Harvest Investments, covering the utilities sector.

 

Byun covers the engineering and construction, shipbuilding and steel sectors in Korea. Before this, he worked for 15 years at Mirae Asset Securities, and was most recently the leader of the industrial team which covered construction and construction materials companies.

 

In the consumer sector, Lee Jiyeon and Jessica Hong joined the bank in July and September, respectively. Lee focuses her research coverage on the consumer sector in Korea. She joined Standard Chartered from KB Investment & Securities where she was responsible for the cosmetics, retail and telecommunications sectors. Prior to that, she worked at Samsung Securities in a similar role.

 

Hong covers Hong Kong-listed international brands and the retail sector in Hong Kong. Before joining Standard Chartered, Jessica covered the Hong Kong and China consumer sectors at JP Morgan and Mirae Asset Securities, and also Hong Kong and China small caps at Bear Stearns and HSBC.

 

Based in Hong Kong, Li and Hong report to Erwin Sanft, head of China and Hong Kong equity research. Lee and Byun are based in Seoul and report to Chung Sun, head of Korea equity research.
